@JoYo honestly I think a lot of what passes for "progressive" these days does a good job scaring off the normal people all on it's own. But yeah, every political faction points at their opponents every chance they get hoping to scare the center into picking their side. You've got one side telling you what you're allowed to say out loud and another that says things like "the US is founded on judeo-christian values". I refuse to play that game.

There's a creative element, it is a creative process. You can incorporate art into engineering as long as the functional aspect is not modified to accommodate personal expression. Function can be beautiful on its own, but the beauty comes from function.

Imagine an engine. If the designer sacrificed function to incorporate some art, you wouldn't buy it, but if he engraved surface designs it would be fine.

Code should not be an expression of thought, code is supposed to be an expression of intent and function. Painting and music and sculpture and dance are for expression of thought. Building things is engineering, not art.

@gcrkrause dude there's no reason to get angry. We are still friends (on the internet anyway). We just have a disagreement about something. It should happen all the time between people who talk about things.

That 1985 Philadelphia bombing is bad, no doubt. But I'd make some points: 1) it was 35 years ago 2) every major city in the US is currently experiencing social unrest, as opposed to one example in one city, 3) MOVE was a left wing organization.
