@JoYo what should people be doing during a pandemic? What is and isn't allowed?

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz did you grow out of it like they say most younger people do? Would you say it was a phase?

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz did he attempt to bury it with your clothes?

Introducing Pixelfed Drive, a new way to organize and store your photos (with or without posting them).

Available soon!

@gcrkrause yeah that is essentially what I mean. I'm going to take the "run periodically" logic out and create a native process that handles that, that way a python interpreter isn't locked for the majority of the time when the bot is doing nothing but sleeping.

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz I've tried searx which is a FOSS self hostable, extensible metasearch engine, it is alright. But of course it relies heavily on existing search engines. Also swisscows is good (it is an actual search engine) and I use it most of the time, and I plan to run my own YaCy server which is a sort of p2p search engine and is conceptually very awesome.

I do use DDG, but not when I'm looking for new information.

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz yes, actually it is google, that's my point. DDG does not crawl the web, it sends your query to Google, Bing, Yahoo and others and curates the results it gets from those.

It is true that your data is not forwarded (so they say and I believe them) but to me the fact that Google can act as a gatekeeper to information is worse than data collection, and DDG doesn't solve that problem.

@dielan
This problem is quite large. Unweildy. Excessively large even. One might even call it "husky".
@a1batross

@gcrkrause I would love to merge your contribution! I do want to ask you first though, your change moves towards a goal of daemonizing the program, in the future when I do more work towards this goal would you mind helping/contributing in case I run into any difficulties regarding your change?

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz you're dorky enough, go learn about bitcoin and shit. Maybe play around with that. Might make you rich.

In the future, humanity could be anything. Humanity could be a group of immortal beings. Humanity could be individual emperors of automated empires. Or humanity could be a boot which rests upon the neck of humankind. We cannot let the latter happen.

@Wetrix is it a serious proposal or grandstanding that they know will lose but will garner them votes?

@mono I don't know why but this is one of the greatest things I've ever seen
