@JoYo I like not getting a lot of responses. Just generally responses from a few of my internet frands is what I like. I couldn't do thousands of followers, if I got to that point I'd have to split up my account into one for social and one for announcements, not that I've had any of those lately.

@fedilab@toot.fedilab.app I would use console except it doesn't show avatars.

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz I'd say the real problem is involuntary inclusion in a state organization. I'm a citizen of where I'm from by accident of birth, and I'm happy with being a citizen of where I'm from but I don't think you should be compelled to citizenship involuntarily. If citizenship were voluntary but came with an agreement to potential military service that would be fine.

@georgia@dickkickextremist.xyz lol aren't you born in like 1999 or something?

@phoenix why don't you do a custom from scratch ricer arch build with i3wm and all that?

@Wetrix I hate to be cynical, but the oversight group will probably be hand picked by the people that would abuse the law. The FISA court was supposed to be the check on the power and keep things constitutional, but it turned into a rubber stamp. I don't think the problems with the Patriot Act can be fixed, it has to be thrown out.

That feeling when you think you've figured out how the world works and then you find out that humans are striped like tigers and bioluminescent.

Ever since I was a little kid all I wanted to do was build a tree house. I never got a chance to and I'm salty about it. But that same excitement about building interesting things has stayed with me my whole life.

I just want to say I love the fediverse. I've tried different social media and have never really liked anything, but I like this. I consider everyone I interact with regularly to be friends in some sense, and I've found it to be a positive environment generally speaking.

@Wetrix yeah I think that anyone determined enough could find out about someone, our jobs is to make that as hard as possible.I posted some pictures of some creatures I caught and that could be used to determine what region I live in. You'll create patterns, even if you try to hide it in noise. If even 1/28 posts you make give something away, someone could pick up on it. Imagine what a machine algorithm could do.

Anyway I'm glad people are interested in privacy, but we can always do more.

@Wetrix yeah, well we all want to get to know the people we interact with, even online, ABK sometimes that means we make mistakes. Sometimes we think we are doing a good job with privacy but it is very hard with social media, even ones like Mastodon. I go to great lengths to protect mine as well, like not posting pictures of myself, even though it is tempting. But I know that some info about me can be gleaned from what I do post, and that can add up over time and create patterns. It is a battle.

@Wetrix well, because I see you post a lot of stuff from r/privacy, how deep into keeping yourself private do you go?

@phoenix @machete_Badger@fosstodon.org mb/s (megabit) and MB/s (megabyte) are different. To convert, divide mb/s by 8 to get accurate MB/s

If you have a gigabit Ethernet connection you should get a max throughput of 1000mb/s which is 125 MB/s, sounds like you're right on the money and everything is working fine.

Here's an uncalled for explanation about something that's bothering me…

When you're asking a question on the Fediverse about something I know and might answer, but your nickname contains this little defying hammer and sickle sign… I, coming from the country that used to flaunt it, read it as "I support slave labor and institutionalized mass murder", which makes me far less likely to engage in any discussion with you.

(I'm pretty sure you might disagree. Your ignorance is your problem.)
