God don't get me started on notches or under the screen crap. Dumb is dumb, the smartphone form factor has matured to the point it is all gimmicks now. Just give me a thin bezel for the sensors and quit playing with my shit. Slap a fingerprint reader on the back and call it a day.

There are extra things in software too, like the system uses accelerometer to judge whether the device is in free fall so the camera can retract to avoid damage, I don't know if that software will be in custom roms, and a bug plus a dropped phone could mean a useless permanent appendage. There's a reason the industry moved away from moving parts, OnePlus seems to have forgotten the lesson

I've dealt with that also, I believe it is a codec problem. I've dealt with it in Arch and Debian systems as well, usually with remote filesystems I just unmount the drive and VLC will then stop. I've never been able to fix it but I am certain it is an issue with a codec.
