Weekly #ForgeFed update 🙂
The Friday project jam was very productive! @zplus@gnusocial.no and I have been working on the Push Activity demo, during and after the jam. After tons of fixing and tweaking, it's almost ready! I know I keep saying that ^_^
It will be a small simple demo, but I'm very excited about all the recent work behind it, and about the cool things coming in the next demos (such as federated merge requests)! I hope the next toot here will finally have a demo link ^_^

@fedilab
That's a good idea, maybe a long press? Copy/open/open externally type thing?
Joe Rogan talks to Edward Snowden. This is a lengthy one! ❤️
@astheroth How so?
@Maza
Yeah I think it is important too. And it is a relatively simple tool, I was surprised that nobody had done it. There are tools to import videos from YT, but none that maintain a mirror for you. Or at least there were none, now there is one.
@dielan
Everyone knows that's just a stereotype.
@dielan
Something about the prince dipping his arm in pudding?
@JoYo
That's a very interesting proposition.
I have made a small improvement to YouTube2PeerTube. The tool now has the ability to mirror YT videos directly without downloading and then uploading them! If you have bandwidth restrictions and/or have no interest in archiving videos you mirror, you now have a more lightweight option.
It's live on Google Play. The battery drain should be dicreased strongly.
Why? The app will detect activities on your accounts (independently) depending of that, queries to your server(s) will be maintained or reduced until reaching a delay of 15 minutes. Also, as soon as you post, the app will wake up only for the account for catching new interactions.
As I don't want to use Google messaging and Co, it's a safe way to keep everything locally without being a battery drain.
Please, if you open an issue don't forget to mention your instance and your Android device.
Instances allow me to check what version of Mastodon you are running and the device is also important (for checking on my end).
Every behaviors are different depending of these two characteristics.
So thanks for making it clearer :)
@astheroth
Did you manage to get all your previous followers to follow you?
Internet friends, I made a thing!

It is a tool that watches YT channels and mirrors videos to PeerTube as they are released. I am personally very proud of it and I would love feedback. This is a tool that has been much needed and there are several open issues on the PeerTube Github asking about this functionality. It would probably be messy to implement that in the PeerTube server so I made a bot to do it for you.
I will be adding to it, but it works fine right now!
@maltine Thanks. I am hoping it gets a lot of use, I found 3 issues in the PeerTube Github asking for this feature, there are tools that mirror whole YT channels but none that watch and update as videos are released.

That's no good. I have been thinking of moving to pleroma as well, I like my mastodon instance but I like pleroma better as a piece of software.

I do not recognize anyone’s right to one minute of my life. Nor to any part of my energy. Nor to any achievement of mine. No matter who makes the claim, how large their number or how great their need.
