@cjd hahahaha what on earth got you to want to do this?
Hacking 1998:
"Watch me reck this mail server"
* Sends attachment with infinitely nested zip files causing spam filter to go into infinite loop unpacking them and run the machine out of memory
Hacking 2018:
"Watch me reck this guy's mind"
* Makes argument from fabricated political position which is obviously invalid and extremist, but is so wrought with logical inter-dependencies that trying to spot the actual fallacy leads to memory exhaustion, leaving victim unable to successfully refute it.
When they first taught us the alphabet in school, it seemed like an incredibly daunting task to me. There were so many different letters, how would I learn them all?!
Then they introduced us to math and told us there's an infinite amount of numbers. I just thought "that's it, no way I'll learn them all, I'll have to become a famous singer".
Turned out I suck at singing. And I still don't know all the numbers. Pretty good with the alphabet, though.
@rw FYI you're leaking potential metadata about where you live with that photo. I now have reason to believe that you live in the Dallas area.
@sybren FYI fires in the amazon are a yearly occurrence, are natural, and happen around this time every year. This year is actually below average so far.
@nikolal Yup, but by the time you need it it is too late.
Once upon a time in Hollywood, thoughts
@nikolal it is kind of like inglorious basterds, it is about the Manson family but the ending is entirely different.
@cjd
That's, well, fucking brilliant.
Ridiculously simple idea:
Bootloader shows a colorful background which is derived from the hash of the kernel you're booting. If you get evil-maided, they would have to install a new custom firmware which fakes the same colors, and there are a number of ways to make this really difficult to reproduce...

Be sure to toot a link. I want to check it out.
Do you upload your videos to peertube or something after they're done?
@fedilab
Isn't that what tags are for? The app already allows us to search by tags.
@Wetrix
Yeah I'm opposed to telling the big social platforms what to do. There's the fact that the mess that is social media is driving software like Mastodon and Peertube, which I like. I disagree with what the big tech guys are doing, but the idea that we have to tell them how to run reinforces the idea that we need them, and creates barriers to entry. Is a mastodon instance a "platform"? Does an admin have to be politically neutral? It becomes a mess all around.
@cathal
They use the internet too why don't you boycott the internet? Or Firefox? Firefox doesn't block Nazis. They organize on the internet using Firefox.
@Wetrix
FYI this is astroturfed by Google and the rest. Nobody actually knows what the order says, but it looks like it is just going to reiterate editorial conditions for platforms under USC 230 Section C. Of course that's bad for the big tech cartel so they're paying for articles like this to get written and shared.

I do not recognize anyone’s right to one minute of my life. Nor to any part of my energy. Nor to any achievement of mine. No matter who makes the claim, how large their number or how great their need.
