@nikolal That is probably caused by your device itself lowering power by turning off networking when the screen is off. I am not sure where to change that in Android 9 but you can turn it off so that wifi stays active even when the device is idle.
@rw If you can sell yourself with nothing but marketing on your cv then you've sold it as a marketable skill
@nikolal I believe you can give termux permission to run in the background, do not battery optimize it and leave the session open. Your remote machine probably has a default timeout for security reasons, if it does you have to turn it off, but i would not recommend it unless you are using key based auth
@Wetrix
Sudo lol.
Seriously, I don't run anything specialized, a firewall (ufw) and nothing gets elevated privileges unless I know how and why. I think a big part of the security in Linux is that windows is the big target, but I think user and privilege management don't get enough credit. It is really hard to get privileged access on a Linux box. Plus I think in general Linux users are more prone to maintain their system so it isn't as easy to get past them.
@jonah So do you intend to make it invite only or do you intend to go based on the results of the poll?
I am not a fan of invite only but whatever you have to do as admin to moderate your instance, that is something that at the end of the day only you know what is best.

Go and participate if you'd like.
@JoYo
I like pretty much everything he's ever made. His existence has enriched my life.
What Trump ad? What about Trump ads? Is he making Trump ads?
@JoYo Mike Judge is not an asshat you take that back
@sjw what the fuck did i just watch 😂 😭
@hund@linuxrocks.online But with regard to contributing to FOSS code, how do you handle pull requests, improvement requests and things like that? You need accounts. About the only think that would work alright without an account is bug reports, and only if the person reporting sends the appropriate logs the first time.
@Wetrix
Wow I want to ask you where that is because I want to go there, but then I'm not sure whether you should be answering that question online.
@Wetrix Yeah I agree but i think that in our work we need to try to understand that there are different people in this world. It is bad enough to irresponsibly create tools with our biases in them, we have to try. What is going on in big tech right now though is intentional gaslighting of whole populations. It is malicious, even if those that do it think they're serving a higher, noble purpose.
Tech Support: A Limerick
You have a few problems computing,
And call them for help troubleshooting.
"I'm sorry" they say,
As you start to pray,
"But have you attempted rebooting?"
@Wetrix
Yeah, the previous video on google in that channel I linked to actually exposes some stuff they're doing. There's no doubt that there is heavy political bias in tech in general, but especially the big companies. I don't have a source but I saw a statistical analysis of google searches that showed that it is statistically unlikely to the point of being practically impossible that there isn't bias being put into the search algorithm. I should've saved a link to that study.
@Wetrix
FYI the article is a bit sensationalist, the engineer from the interview said himself that he had not seen it himself but that he knows the culture there and knows how the algorithms work and given the results it is very unlikely there isn't bias.

@swaggboi
It means you should experiment on humans.

The biggest obstacle to self hosted gitea or gitlab is contributing across self hosted servers.
https://github.com/forgefed/forgefed (I see the irony) is a project that aims to extend ActivityPub for use with Git.
https://discourse.gitea.io/t/forgefed-federation-in-gitea/1157 there is some discussion with implementing forgefed in gitea
https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/4013 there is an issue in gitlab for tracking interest and work on federating.
We will get there.

I do not recognize anyone’s right to one minute of my life. Nor to any part of my energy. Nor to any achievement of mine. No matter who makes the claim, how large their number or how great their need.
