The big "search engines" are breaking our ability to find each other's content organically online. They're putting themselves in the middle and curating content. They're not even search engines anymore, they're content aggregator platforms. Did you know that you have to register your site with Google to show up in search results? They don't even use crawlers anymore.

DuckDuckGo does not protect you from this. Any metasearch engine will not protect you from this.

@mister_monster i never registered mstsn.rocks but
google.com/search?client=ms-an"mstdn.rocks"&oq="mstdn.rocks"&gs_lcp=ChNtb2JpbGUtZ3dzLXdpei1zZXJwEAMyBwgjEK4CECdQAFgAYPUgaABwAHgAgAF1iAF1kgEDMC4xmAEA&sclient=mobile-gws-wiz-serp

It's there and I've seen googles crawler in my access logs.

They're phasing out their index over time and moving to a registry. Eventually you will need to have a gmail account in order to show.
