The big "search engines" are breaking our ability to find each other's content organically online. They're putting themselves in the middle and curating content. They're not even search engines anymore, they're content aggregator platforms. Did you know that you have to register your site with Google to show up in search results? They don't even use crawlers anymore.
DuckDuckGo does not protect you from this. Any metasearch engine will not protect you from this.
@mister_monster the link doesn't work just search "mstdn.rocks" with the quotes

They're phasing out their index over time and moving to a registry. Eventually you will need to have a gmail account in order to show.
@mister_monster oh that's for sure. Search engines have been doing this since day 1, they've just gotten bigger and more greedy as the years have gone by.
Which search engine do u use?
@Wetrix I use a combination. I was using DDG for Mort every day searches but the problem has gotten worse, I use Swisscows most of the time now, but it has issues like that sometimes, and I want to run YaCy and probably will eventually.
@mister_monster i never registered mstsn.rocks but

It's there and I've seen googles crawler in my access logs.
