now that 3/5 of my work week has been wiped out i can actually maybe work on useful software

for some years i have been calling for the need for alternative, parallel net infrastructure all the way from software down to the physical infra over which the network exists. certain vital needs will never be fulfilled by capitalism, and the breadth of its negligence only increases. only forces not subject to profit or price can develop them, and they are the manner of things that save lives.

@garbados lol have you heard of Starlink? The free market is delivering an entirely new hardware network in a fraction of the time the existing one has been around. Also, do you even have any grasp on the scale of a project to build a second hardware internet? And the logistics and diminishing return of utility that would have? Do you think a bunch of bureaucrats could build something like that better than self interested, motivated individuals?
