Oh, another #Firefox security update (67.0.4 / ESR60.7.2): mozilla.org/en-US/security/adv

"Insufficient vetting of parameters passed with the Prompt:Open IPC message between child and parent processes can result in the non-sandboxed parent process opening web content chosen by a compromised child process. When combined with additional vulnerabilities this could result in executing arbitrary code on the user's computer."

why we tell people we won't use Windows: we know Linux now and we don't like Windows very much, so using it would be pointless

why we actually won't use Windows: unlike any recent version of Windows, we actually feel safe when we use our Linux machines. we feel like we have our own space where we can let our guard down and not worry about the machine turning on us.
Windows has never offered this user experience to us, and probably never will.

@skynebula it's on my reading list too, if I hear a good review I'll bump its priority on my queue!

Every day is a new day to discover a new fucking privacy-washing organization.

I don't know if I have to laugh, cry, or throw up!...

Thanks @aral for this discovery

@jj as someone who thinks companies should be properly regulated, the sad thing is in the US at least (but also UK) I don't know which is worse, bad governance or monopolistic techno-libertarians

Our users rely on bridges if their ISPs or governments block access to the Tor network. The difficulty lies in handing out bridges to censored users but not to censors. We tackle this problem with the tool BridgeDB.

Version 0.7.1 is out now: blog.torproject.org/new-releas #censorship #surveillance

It is sad to see the European Commission's work group on cloud security using Google Drive & blogspot, handing over user data for everyone who wants to read the report to the USA. #CyberSecurityAct

CryptPad has had a surge of visitors this week-end from Hong-Kong (the purple in the weekly stats here). We wonder if it’s related to the Hong Kong massive protests. CryptPad continues to grow fast ! #zeroknowledge #encryptedcollaboration #cryptpad

Remember this chestnut from Eric Schmidt, CEO of Google at time?

"We don't need you to type at all. We know where you are. We know where you've been. We can more or less know what you're thinking about"

That was nearly 9 years ago.

oof, the 2019 MacBook Pro has been a part of the keyboard service program since its own release date. That's how you know it's bad.

It shouldn't even be legal for Apple to knowingly sell defective products.

#China: #WeChat and the surveillance state.

Insightful blog post on how much people's lives depend on this app and how it's used to censor and spy on its citizens.

"The censors who can lock you out of Wechat hold real power over you."

It is not a coincidence that EVERY platform that promises "unlimited free speech" has fallen to hatred, villainy, and oppression.

It is not a coincidence that nearly EVERY person who demands absolute freedom of speech also wants to subjugate the human beings they believe are Lesser Than.

I do not tolerate that hatred, villainy, oppression, and subjugation here. Evil does not get to have a voice on Elekk.

If you have a choise to decide wether you are antifacism or not, you're in a privilidged position many don't have.

To them, antifascism means survival.

If you choose to be against that, you choose to be an enemey, from a position that holds you so comfortable, that you have the power to choose differently.

You can have made wrong decisions in the past, but you can learn to not to the same in future. It is your responsibility.

Start with listening to whom antifascism means survival.
