Guys, I like some personal data of my Synology to a cloud storage. Reason is of course if something happens at my home we all don't want (fire, burglary).

But what is a good and private cloud storage to backup about 1Tbyte of data.

Hope you have some advise.... Thanks!

@marc0janssen

Depends. You could use veracrypt and put the container in gdrive.

Backblaze is cheap too. B2 is more expensive but less than S3.

If it's strictly archival, S3 Glacier or GCS Coldline will be best bet.

@supernova yeah. Thought of that. Placing another Synology at my sisters house. I now backup data to a storage provider. But I have privacy concerns with that.

@marc0janssen @supernova

which model? I am looking for one with NFS4 support, but I can’t decide…

@loweel @supernova I have not look in it to far, but I would get the “+” model with 5 disks I guess. Something like my DS1513+

@marc0janssen I just saw you use a Mac, so do I ( as well as Linux but the Mac is my main system). My current setup for backup is using Acronis True Backup to do a full backup to the cloud which is encrypted. I also use Mega.nz to backup my entire Documents folder (and use the Mega app on other systems to locally sync the files I need). Then in have a Time Machine external drive.

@supernova the Mac is my main man too ;-). I have nothing on my Mac. All data is on the Synology. I use resilio to get some data local on the Mac. But the main storage is the Synology. I have my timemachine backup on this Synology too. That data is replicated to any other drive here at home and to a storage provider. The timemachine backup are not replicated. They are just setting and apps.
