I've been seeing a lot of outrage about Instagram's new TOS that went into effect recently in regards to privacy. Isn't a lot of this stuff nothing new? Their data policy (with all of the 'we can watch you through your camera' horrors) has been that way for a while... Anyone got more context for this? #Instagram
@Wetrix @harrismcc
I believe it's about this:
> People have suggested that the new terms allow Instagram to view and analyse things through your front camera, copy your address book, call log and SMS history and collect information from everything you search on the site.
Have no desire to read it all since I don't use it, and my SO won't stop using it no matter the TOS π
@Wetrix @m_svo I wouldn't be so sure, in their data policy they outright say that they have the ability to see through your camera (which they cutely call 'our camera', see below screenshots from their data policy). And there is a lawsuit out against them right now about this https://www.cnet.com/news/lawsuit-accuses-instagram-of-peeping-with-iphone-camera/
@m_svo @harrismcc well I'm pretty sure thank God none of that is true! If it is I'm deleting my accounts like now!
I think from what I've read is that anything u post they have ownership of now π€π
