Those settings are like the illusory control provided by the steering wheel on this stroller.
The Matrix (The Google) could be re-made to show all the captive people of the AI stuck in those towers of pods poking and swiping away on their phones to keep producing data for the AI. The original movie had people producing energy for the AI, but what it really needs is a constant flow of data. Poison or impede it, and it starves.
