Great article about the new CSAM + privacy concerns that are coming to iOS devices.

I like how presents results of multi-disciplinary scientific research in terms of probabilities.

Every statement and forecast is annotated by likelihood (certain/likely etc) and confidence about its conclusion.

I think that's very much the direction where all other science-based policy should be heading. I think IPCC has created a precedent and a model for future global research on other global topics (e.g. disease controls).

A group calling themselves “Belarusian Cyber-partisans” made a massive data breach in 🇧🇾 Ministry of Internal Affairs.

They claim they acquired tons of information about police operations against opposition, audio recordings of calls, details of "web brigades" etc.

These will be very likely now published by opposition media like NEXTA.

The shipping industry is currently source of massive amounts of CO2 and pollution (as it runs on heavy diesel) emissions.

propelled container ships such as this Sevmorput 🇷🇺 are the low-carbon and low-emission answer to this challenge.

Greenpeace has been talking about sails and batteries, but even their own ships run on diesel as EV ships are simply infeasible from technical point of view.

According to a new IEA study, mining doesn't undermine EV potential for reducing CO2 emissions. EVs require a lot of mined materials but lifecycle emissions are just 50% of gasoline cars, and can go down to 25% if manufacturing is powered by low carbon energy.

Oops I did it again…

A little warning banner showing up, reminding you what Apple decided they should do. I guess that will stick around a bit longer than the hype around the problem.

, living in GRU safe house in Russia, who just deployed countrywide deep-packet inspection censorship and surveillance, quoted in Russia Today, a propaganda outlet, is certainly the authority to speak on "insulting privacy" 🤦‍♂️

Screeching voices of the minority? Really? Wow #Apple, I know that was an internal memo, but you have to have known it was going to get released publicly. Not good PR. Very not good PR. Apple likes to pound on its chest and tell us all how privacy conscious they are, but are they really when the next thing they do scan all of the photos on your phone and verbally attack anybody who is concerned about the privacy aspects of such a program?
