How many people remember that #StreetComplete is a thing? If you're #geocaching or playing #Pokemon Go, you might consider adding StreetComplete to the mix to help improve #OpenStreetMap while you're at it!

At this rate, I see Mozilla effectively dead by 2022.

Firefox usage is down 85% despite Mozilla's top exec pay going up 400%

Just switched my gateway to a proper 8-channel RAK2245 and it's working nice, but I'm quite surprised to see how primitive the RAK firmware is - it's basically Raspbian with rather awkwardly added Semtech packet forwarder! I guess it's FPGA that you're really paying for... Dragino LG01 gateway only supports single channel but has a proper web-based user interface :)

Certainly, "for something" 😂
If this monument was presented in a liberal art gallery, it would certainly trigger national protests for blasphemy...

"Statue of Pope JP2 carrying a boulder while crossing a red pond filled with carp outside the national museum in Warsaw — allegory for something. (Jan Cieński)"

The very concept of economic "externality" mentioned by Cicala is fundamental to modern ecology, and base to modern environmental policies.

Ever heard about Milton Friedman, the top liberal economist enumerated in one row with Rand, Mises, Hayek?

Well this is him advocating for carbon tax in 1979.

The problem was not really with Friedman or Hayek, who applied liberal economics to social challenges in quite a pragmatic way (it was Rand and Mises who were indeed dogmatic), it's a problem with today's left and right who never read neither Friedman, nor Marx, and know both from summaries written by demagogues similar to themselves.

Polish coal miners' union leader Bogusław Ziętek in 2020: "I cannot imagine coal production to be reduced, we must guarantee employment until 2060 at least".

Also Bogusław Ziętek, in 2001: "all profits must be paid out to the workers" (rather than invested in modernizing mining infrastructure).

A side note: back in 2014 out of 15 state-owned coal mines in Poland only 3 (three) were profitable, the others are hopelessly outdated. 30% coal is imported... and, you know, decarbonization!

There's a lot of bullshit in circulation about EU "funding opposition in " - in reality, EU has allocated over €170 since 2014 to various projects in Belarus, including support to health sector, farming, municipalities - and yes, also victims of political repressions and independent media there.
