"US Soldiers Expose Nuclear Weapons Secrets Via Flashcard Apps"

Sometimes I do find myself sympathising with Skynet and the shock it must have felt when it decided to learn more about its godlike creators and the world they had created.

> The IETF just published QUIC as RFC 9000, supported by RFC 9001, RFC 9002, and RFC 8999. That means QUIC version 1 is officially formalized, and QUIC deployments will now move away from using temporary draft versions to the newly minted version 1. (HTTP/3, the version of HTTP that runs on QUIC, is following closely behind, and should be published soon.)

Just published Google lawsuit evidence indicates that like always retained users' location data, even if disabled in user interface, to the extent that its own employees flashed LineageOS on their phones to avoid tracking. Full thread on twitter.com/jason_kint/status/

A suspected "mining" operation illegally stealing electricity has been found by police who were searching for a cannabis farm 🇬🇧

@miramarco

Very true. Then there's a certain spell of arrogance in a lot of medical/science professionals, especially those without background in education. They speak from position of authority, and not explaining anything at all.

My mind keeps linking these two facts together:

• Only 28% of patients are able to complete the list of their symptoms without being interrupted by their physician. (Cf. Marvel, M K et al. “Soliciting the patient's agenda: have we improved?.” JAMA vol. 281,3 (1999))

• Victor Lustig, the fraudster who “sold” the Eiffel Tower, listed “being a patient listener” as the first commandment of con men.

Let's not be surprised if people who are in distress shun the doctors and turn to quacks.

@s8n @fluffy

It's what they do when they barely understand what they're doing and just stick to the simplistic heuristics they can understand 🤦‍♂️

@fluffy @s8n

Precisely, but if that happens you just blame "force majeure" and when outage is called by update, it's caused by update 🤦‍♂️

@s8n @fluffy

A variant of this answer is what I hear quite often from clients: "can't patch this system, it's mission critical" 😂

On second thought, installing Russian keyboard does make some sense as it might actually interfere with this simple friend-or-foe mechanism implemented by RU/UA teams. If everyone installs RU/UA keyboard, they either need to take risk, or miss targets, or come up with something new 🤔

@fluffy

I can imagine a whole new wave of malware posing as "RUSSIAN KEYBOARD TO PREVENT MALWARE" appearing on the market now 😂 Or even better "DON'T HAVE TIME TO PATCH YOUR SYSTEMS? INSTALL THIS QUICK RUSSIAN KEYBOARD TO SECURE YOUR SYSTEMS FOREVER"
