That's only if his genial mind is successfully transferred into a cloud before his body reaches biological death and is mummified along with the great Lenin. I find it quite likely Skolkovo is already burning millions on such a project!

Managed to get to the polling station at just after 21:30, was working in Cambridge today so decided to visit later in the evening on the way back..

This is way less hassle than going earlier, there were 0 other people (none of the political campaigners you often get earlier in the day), and plenty of parking space (I wouldn't normally drive to the polling station as its within 0,5km of my house but was going home in that direction anyway)

@dump_stack @werekat

OMG what do you mean "not really Russia"? There are discussions going all the time about Ramzan Akhmatovich becoming the successor of Putin, are you saying you wouldn't like to see him as the new President 😂

> you'll hardly find any person who will distinguish

Except for Caucasus - everybody notices "чурки". Also Tadjiks and other migrants from Asia, whom I heard people quite openly referring to as "Talibs" and similar epithets. Southern accents are also promptly noticed - especially the Ukrainian "h".

@dump_stack @werekat

More interestingly, as you visit people's homes you see what they're reading - and among all that UFO bullshit I found some really interesting pieces - such as books by Jurgen Graf, a well known Holocaust denier and Nazi defender, all published in Russian in hard-cover and sold in Russia legally, without any harassment from "center E" 😉

@dump_stack @werekat

Do you count curating "SERB" as "палки" or "some real job"? 😂

@dump_stack @werekat

I'm a long-time fan of Dugin since I've first met my friends from Kosmopoisk in Caucasus.

There were few conspiracy theories they wouldn't pick up and inflate to unbelievable size, and one of them was Ahnenerbe, a "mystical and astrological division of SS".

So, here we go 😂

If you've read the fantastic Shea & Wilson trilogy "Illuminatus", that's precisely the genre, just that they take it seriously.

@dump_stack @werekat

As of today "centr E" is here mostly to make statistics of "crime prevention" by convicting random people on VK reposting "politically incorrect" jokes or memes. I don't think there's many forms of expression, including open letters or poems, left that weren't at least once classified as "extremism" in Russia...

However @dump_stack is right that Dugin kind of lost his appeal among Russian political elites, mostly because none of his predictions actually ever materialised. Surkov also has fallen out of grace after his Novorossiya kind of didn't catch with the masses.

@werekat

On 9 August hundreds of people participated in fight against police in #Pinsk town south of #Belarus starting uprising in their town against dictatorship. 14 of those people were identified and last week sentenced to 5.5 - 6.5 years in prison. #Repressions

I kind of lost track of what you're now talking about but I found out that the 2018 law about national languages was actually amended after widespread protests from regions to include national languages as mandatory part of the school programme

@dump_stack @werekat

So he goes in with his geopolitical bullshit (including whole chapter on "sacred trees") and then decides "Ukraine categorically has to be controlled by Russia" and "Poland is a trouble, no need for it to exist", all based on a simple presumption that "Russia is heartland" and "who the fuck cares about these small nations".

And then comes new 1989, all Eastern Bloc members run away from Russia and the only explanation these idiots have is "it must've been a CIA plot" 🤦‍♂️

@dump_stack @kravietz 3) Most importantly, meme figures are an interesting thing to watch, because they're canaries in the coal mine. For example, see how quickly Kuraev lost his status as "anti-sect expert" when he went like "the Jehova's Witnesses are annoying fuckwits, but they don't deserve prisons." Watch how your government reacts to them and you'll know where the arrests are headed.

@dump_stack @werekat

The problem with Dugin, and I say that after reading his "Fundamentals of geopolitics", is that, as all believers into "geopolitics", he tends to think about the world in like it was a chessboard and their attitude is basically "and now we move those people here, and these there".

So he has this long lecture about "who can be considered Russian", and then half of his book is dedicated which countries have right to exist and which should be colonized by Russia 🤷

@dump_stack @werekat

> Ethnic nationalism in Russia is not welcomed, that's correct. Including Russian nationalists. Центр «Э» не дремлет

Two Yorkshire lasses saved orphaned ducklings near a busy road by using a YouTube video of a mother duck calling to get the birbs to follow them to safety 😁 🦆

@dump_stack @werekat

> embrace the local language at the local level

Yes, "embracing" is clearly the picture painted by Syres Boliayen in the UN:

> Native peoples in Russia are forbidden to have their own political parties, or even to study their mother tongue in secondary schools. Only dancing in national costumes is tolerated. Those who stand up for their rights are persecuted as extremists and become victims of punitive psychiatry

(or killed, as Kuyashev)
