Bruce Schneier on Signal's cryptocurrency adventures:

"""

It’s not just that blockchain is just plain stupid. It’s not even that Signal is choosing to tie itself to a specific blockchain currency. It’s that adding a cryptocurrency to an end-to-end encrypted app muddies the morality of the product, and invites all sorts of government investigative and regulatory meddling: by the IRS, the SEC, FinCEN, and probably the FBI.

The case of Kvanefjeld mine in Greenland shows pretty well how silly the imaginary divide between "clean renewables" and "dirty nuclear" is - the site is supposed to mine *both* rare-earth metals (PV & wind) and uranium, and *both* produce ☢️ waste.

Dear Spotify: don’t manipulate our emotions for profit

Take a stand against Spotify
's recent speech-recognition patent that claims to detect “emotional state, gender, age, or accent” to recommend music.

Music services shouldn't be using covert surveillance in their products.

After Signal announced #MobileCoin implementation in messenger, many #Bitcoin, #Monero, etc. enthusiasts started asking why not their favorite coin.

Please, don't be naive.

Delete Chrome. Now.

Google is using its exceptionally powerful position to make *the browser itself* analyze your browsing behavior and serve that on a plate in the form of "cohorts" to anyone interested.

They are transforming Chrome into a "browsing-history-passport" - right now.

If you care about your intellectual freedom even a little bit, you must put Chrome out of your life as soon as possible. Support others doing the same.

@kravietz
The number 1 really does deserve the top place on this list. I've experienced such autocomplete blockers a few times and they're so profoundly and absurdly stupid and annoying that I lack words to describe it.

Very, very true... "if you cast your gaze across pentest reports and bug bounty findings, you'll discover another insidious theme emerges: 'vulnerabilities' that simply don't make sense."

A switch has silently been flipped in millions of instances of #Google #Chrome: those browsers will begin sorting their users into groups based on behavior, then sharing group labels with third-party trackers and advertisers around the #web.

Agencja Bezpieczeństwa Wewnętrznego (ABW) — Polish Internal Security Agency. The moment when you're wondering if a security agency is seriously replacing their home page with "happy Easter" banner, or hoping their website was just defaced - these days it happens to the best after all...

Herzlich willkommen, liebes @bsi auf unserer Instanz. Wenn nun Sicherheit und Datenschutz vorangehen, werden sicherlich bald auch weitere Bundesbehörden folgen

1) 28 March EC JRC publishes 387-page scientific report that confirms (once again) that nuclear power is generally comparable to renewables in terms of environmental impact

2) Twitter wonders what Greenpeace will do now, I cynically replied "they're busy preparing smear campaign against JRC"

3) 31 March Greenpeace posts... a smear campaign against JRC (in English), faces a scathing criticism

4) Another post in French... this time comments disabled
