Göbekli Tepe monoliths in Turkey 🇹🇷 dated 9'500 BC, which means they are... 7'000 years older than Stonehenge 🤷

BTW one of the largest practical deployments of IPFS today is LibGen!

@everlastingrocks @EdwardTorvalds

IPFS is a filesystem, so any website hosted on it is a static website - meaning static HTML+JavaScript rendered in the browsers and all data needs to be self-contained in the IPFS.

In terms of performance, it's self-scaling - the more users view a website, the more nodes cache it. Initial propagation may be slow, so if you want your website to always load fast for everyone, you just host more seeding nodes.

Mark Galeotti: "The sustained effort to denigrate the Sputnik V vaccine by some in the West is not only a depressing spectacle, it is a terrible blunder in both political and epidemiological terms."

Galeotti is the last person who could be described as friend of Putin, and Putin by his usual campaign of lies and propaganda had hurt Sputnik V more than anyone else.

@werekat I remember how music cassettes were smuggled during these times and it was awesome - one person could bring an Iron Maiden cassette from UK to Poland, then it was immediately replicated into thousands of copies and distributed in Poland, then someone took it on train to USSR, then the same process was repeated there - all that was obviously illegal, but in late 80's nobody cared.

@kravietz This is fascinating...

This reminds me very much of the book *God's Smuggler* by Brother Andrew. It's about a guy who smuggled bibles across the Iron Curtain to closed countries.

Thanks for the link!

“We need energy that does not add CO2 to the atmosphere [...]. The least emissions-intensive those are wind and nuclear, but if we want energy that’s independent of external conditions, then we’re left with nuclear,” Malinowski explains.

It's always good when media exemplify things they're writing about:

"There's an indication of widespread disinformation regarding A-Z vaccine"

"Blood clots in a patient vaccinated in Spain"

@EdwardTorvalds in IPFS content has a static hash (CID), so yesterday's version of website has a different CID from today's version if you changed anything. And you need a way to tell clients which version is the latest - DNS and IPNS are two way of doing it. More details are in my article.

This is a long shot, but I want to put the power of social media and federation to the test.

My son wants to become a commercial airline pilot when he’s grown up. It would be awesome if we could find a commercial pilot in the fediverse that we can follow and ask questions of.

If everyone who reads this could boost it, it would be much appreciated and it would mean the world to my son if he could get in touch with a real-life commercial pilot! ✈️

@EdwardTorvalds The only pain point is that right now whenever I publish new content I need to go and manually update the CID in DNS, because Nginx uses /ipns/krvtz.net through DNSLink. I could use IPNS but then it needs to be re-signed on daily basis or otherwise expires. Granted how infrequently I post, this isn't too much of a problem right now, just a small annoyance :)
