@Wetrix

When people self-censor themselves in fear of mythical Russia, Putin is happy 😉

Putin says Russian "harsh and decisive" military operation in Crimea was necessary to prevent "tragic events that we now see in Donbass.

There is just one problem:

GRU started occupation of Crimea in February 2014 and conducted "referendum" in March 2014.

First FSB armed group lead by Girkin entered Donbass in April 2014, two months *after* GRU operation in Crimea.

@PhotonQyv whats annoying is when I first started deploying VOIP phone systems, reputable UK providers trusted you to configure everything correctly and allowed you to send a presentation number as CLID (so you could make outbound calls on a VOIP number but direct inbounds back to your British Telecom fixed lines), but too many people abused that so now you have to provide proof of authorisation to use the number *and* pay an admin charge to the VOIP provider..

A German journalist who used to work for Russia's state-controlled television channel RT says he was asked by his employer to spy on Kremlin critic Aleksei Navalny while he was undergoing treatment in Germany after being poisoned in Siberia.

FFS the levels of ignorance are just shocking: this guy was just confronted with the fact that Germany already has two deep geologic repositories that keep highly toxic arsenic, cyanide and mercury waste.

His answer is a mix of wishful thinking and complete nonsense from chemical, physical and biological point of view:

For the purpose of enforcement, how do you actually define "men"? 🤔

@epic @themactep@fosstodon.org

The fundamental question is how do you define "why"? There simply may not be any deep and fundamental reason for most things other than law of physics combined with probability. I don't feel any discomfort without knowing all these "whys", quite they opposite, they open a whole lot of fields for exploration.

@epic @themactep@fosstodon.org

The only thing that triggers me about Christianity is when people are attributing to it things that are not even inconsistent but outright contradictory with what Christ has been trying to hammer into these dumb tribal heads 😂 O'Reilly just seems to be a bit like that. I don't trust people who make money on religion, it's one of the contradictory things.

@epic @themactep@fosstodon.org

No single answer here. Christianity and Catholicism are multifaceted phenomena and it's very important to clearly demarcate the point of reference and the observer when trying to describe what they are and what they are not.

For some people it will be merely a weekly ritual, for some a social identity, for some an ethical system, for some a literal description of how things were created.

@epic @themactep@fosstodon.org

That's right, Poland is a very bad example of Catholicism, or a very good one, depending on what you want to exemplify. Mainstream Polish Catholicism, with its tribalism, nationalism and hypocrisy, is as distant from the ideals of Christianity as it can be. There are numerous very bright and deeply Christian priests in Polish Church, but they are exceptions rather than mainstream.

> where did that baseball-sized mass come from

As you formulated it, this *is* a valid question, but O'Reilly is *not* asking it.

How I see it, he's using a valid question from a viewer to apparently discredit the very concept that anything can be explained by science and force him into Deist reductionism.

In case of your question is "we don't know, yet". A hundred of years ago we didn't know a whole ton of things about the universe either, that we know today.

@epic @themactep@fosstodon.org

> Deism as was many of USA’s founders

Just a reminder: contrary to a popular opinion, Christianity did *not* originate in the United States of America. So let's not mix religions and politics, especially that the former has been distorted and commercialised to unbelievable extent by the latter, especially in the US.

@epic @themactep@fosstodon.org

> his religion of Catholicism

Just to be precise, there is no such religion as Catholicism. There is religion of Christianity, based on teachings of Jesus Christ described in the New Testament, and there's a dozen of churches who claim exclusive ownership of Christianity, in violation of the very fundamental paradigm of Christianity itself (communion of all people).
