As I've just set up @Liberapay donation for @k9mail and I had a look at the top projects there, this is really heart-warming.

I rely on some of these projects on daily basis, and what they raise is massive moral and material support for devs, and gives assurance to users they won't disappear due to lack of funding.

Liberapay itself is the most telling: each patron only pays 0.38 EUR on average per week, yet with almost 1000 people this makes decent 360 EUR.

@o2g

Так значит там у них вполне возможно какой то древний AIX ещё и сидит 😍

@curtis

They're not made since 2000. They were not the highest quality in terms of mechanics, but very lightweight and low fuel consumption. I remember at school we lifted our teacher's Fiat in like 4-5 people and moved it inside gate sideways 😂

After 2000 they were largely replaced by Cinquecento

@curtis Wait this looks like Polish Fiat 126 p.

Produced in Poland on Italian license mostly in communist times, with two-stroke engine.

Most people in Poland (including myself) passed their driving license exams on this before 2000's 😂

@neil (To anyone wondering what this is about: because of a new, about-to-be-passed Australian law, Facebook no longer provides news there, while Google is going to pay for the right. This problem could be avoided if, instead of centralizing their consumption through FB and Google, people fetched news directly from publishers via RSS or Atom protocols.)

Energy and Climate: "63 years ago, Shell geologist M. K. Hubbert projected a benign vision of our energy future using a simple diagram. Within a few years, however, the antinuclear "green" lobby was born, and thanks to it we remain barreling toward a complete and utter energy/climate trainwreck."

A few weeks ago I wrote about German Energy @SC0ID

social.privacytools.io/@kravie

As it comes out, Greenpeace Energy not only sells fossil gas but also in 2017 attempted to sue European Commission to block UK state aid for Hinkley Point C power plant.

Hard to find a more shocking example of hypocrisy than a company that sells energy source of 490 gCO2 eq/kWh trying to block energy source of 12 gCO2 eq/kWh

I don't think this went beyond design stage yet but I would assume yes, Chromium will implement it. But then many Chromium-derived browsers such as Iridium, Brave, Vivaldi actively disable such features when implemented upstream.

An interesting analysis from ERCOT Texas for 15 February - how different energy sources performed. What is the most important piece is the Avg Capacity Factor column.

For example, nuclear has 5 GW max power and operated at this power for 80% of time (including all cold related issues).

Even coal and gas ("dirty but reliable") operated at their maximum power for ~60% of time.

PV and wind operated at their maximum power for 11-16% respectively.

Good trolling from NL 🇳🇱 police - posted on darknet forum 😂

@lukOlejnik Next update of Google's Chrome delivers "first-party sets". Feature bypasses single origin policy: several websites to communicate/share data/cookies/etc. Single origin policy prohibit such flows. Opens new tracking potential.

@wim_v12e

Same for Hayek. Both Smith and Hayek have been rendered as some kind of Ayn Rand reductionists by neoliberal idiots.

When Adam Smith used the term "free market", he actually meant a properly regulated market, not a totally deregulated one.

I put identical polls out yesterday here and on my Twitter account:
- Mastodon 200 followers: 56 votes
- Twitter 2,000 followers: 2 votes

This is consistent with my general impression about these two platforms:

Twitter is mostly web 1.0 consumption, Mastodon is web 2.0 social.

В 1835 году Одоевский написал первую отечественную утопию. Мир в ней поделили две державы (Россия и Китай), а люди управляют климатом и добывают полезные ископаемые на Луне.
