Let's just reword it that Google supported RSS in browsers until it acquired popular RSS aggregators, and then pulled the plug on RSS in browser. I remember very well how Feedburner was promoted among webmasters as an exciting and convenient way of making your feed popular, which of course was the way for them to get both sides hooked up and break any direct relationship between users and webmasters.

Всё дело в баге в человеческом мозгу, который зародился ещё во времена начала голоцена, если не раньше. Тогда механизм "свой-чужой" помогал выживать.
Сейчас же он является лишь тем, что очень удобно эксплуатировать в целях управления массами (и сбора отдельных личностей в эти самые массы).

I use Signal due to contacts lock-in but gradually migrating to Matrix, which I use a lot already.
Matrix is fully open-source both server and client side, has E2EE and is pretty usable and you can bridge it to ANYTHING of your choice.
Signal is usable and kind of open-source but actively blocks any alternative clients, forcing you to use the official client only.
