You’ve heard of serverless cloud architecture

Now, get ready for… 🥁🥁🥁
Cloudless server architecture
We’re offering features you thought you could only dream of:
Hardened database security: Databases don’t have to be exposed to the network thanks to the wonders of On-System Databases™ and Unix Sockets™, hardening security tenfold!
Latency-free database connections: As if that wasn’t good enough, On-System Databases™ allow you to dramatically reduce latency by bypassing the need for pesky network connections!
On-Demand Web Worker Process Spawning™ using the Common Gateway Interface™
Bare-Metal Access™ to On-Server Storage™ for unparalleled Read™ and Write™ speeds
Predictable costs: No more surprise bills. Pay only for what you specify! Our patent-pending Hardware Limitations™ automatically throttles your cloudless server if you reach capacity
Documentation: tired of trying to navigate through the jungle of outdated and incorrect Azure or AWS documentation? Don’t fret! Operating systems are documented by the most dedicated gangs of nerds you can find on freenode!
Leo Erken.
What do you get when you mix white nationalism, online echo chambers, and global climate crisis?
Depends *which* mile, as there's like a dozen of them, just as pounds, inches, ounces and gallons 😃In contrast, there's just one definition of kilometer.
#Recycling isn't as effective as you would think.
So what's the way? Read more: https://www.ifixit.com/Right-to-Repair/Recycling
Reduce, reuse, repair, than recycle. Of course, recycling is better than throwing stuff away. But that is not the best solution.
@TauAs Very interesting! There are two other books on the same subject which I've read and strongly recommend:
* "The Logic of Planned Economy: The Seeds of the Collapse", Paweł H. Dembinski, Kevin Cook, 1991
(Avansy i dolgi)" ("Credits and debts"), Новый мир (Novyi Mir) – 1987. - № 6. https://echelon.pl/nikolay-shmelyov-avansy-i-dolgi-credits-and-debts-novyi-mir-1987-6.html
Optimizing things in the USSR
11 May 2016
As a data scientist, a big part of my job involves picking metrics to optimize and thinking about how to do things as efficiently as possible. With these types of questions on my mind, I recently discovered a totally fascinating book about about economic problems in the USSR and the team of data-driven economists and computer scientists who wanted to solve them. The book is called Red Plenty.

Fully sympathise, radio was always quite alien to me and I miss basic skills like soldering etc... yet I decided the best way to learn is to build a LoRa gateway 😂 Slowly, slowly getting there...

@rotharius @neauoire Here's one good one, though, from earlier this year, about Catalina: https://sigpipe.macromates.com/2020/macos-catalina-slow-by-design/
Big Sur locks down the system even further. I recommend not buying or using a Mac unless you're absolutely required to by your job. The platform has degraded slowly over the last 5 years, and rapidly over the last 2.
Apple has become an insatiable control freak and incompetent at the same time. Bugs galore, everything locked down. Bad combo.
@vfrmedia It's because they're reading Google's "how to make your website" faster guides all the time 😂
@vfrmedia Good at least they're trying something 👍
@dump_stack That's what I mean precisely - this photo is an obvious depiction of man-kissing-a-man 😂
Fantastic, didn't know the graffiti! 😃
Really good - CONSTANTLY WRONG: The Case Against Conspiracy Theories 👍

It's the same Deutche Bank that gladly helped launder billions of dirty money:
