@vfrmedia I 100% agree pedestrians are often irresponsible but I guess the reason for "reversed liability" is that because in case of an accident they are always much more vulnerable.
If there was even a slight hint on driver's impunity in such situations, we'd likely have people intentionally speeding up "to teach them a lesson"... at the cost of the whole society.
To the inconsistent rules in the UK adds drivers' ignorance as many of them have no idea about it, so when I actually stop to let pedestrians through on "the" crossings there's almost always an idiot honking from behind, why I'm so merciful to the two-legged savages, apparently... 🤦♂️
As result the pedestrians aren't too confident about their "right of way" either, because it's really a roulette...
@vfrmedia By the way, I found it a bit confusing when I came to UK that pedestrians have right of way on *some* crossings, but not on others...
In most of Europe pedestrians have right on *any* marked crossing which is quite consistently enforced.

I remembered last Friday to call the Council and report the defective Belisha beacon at the zebra crossing outside the village shop (one with globe unlit, LED halos flashing erratically) - this week the maintenance team have shut off both beacons and locked off the entire crossing with a barrier (Belisha beacons predate zebra crossings, and indicate pedestrians have right of way, presumably the Council risks legal liability if someone is knocked down whilst the beacons are out..)

@kmic So when there are adults who have legitimate concerns about vaccines, the only source of (dis)information that actively seeks their attention are the anti-vaxxers...
This is pretty much the same in the UK where public media are almost paranoid about "taking government's side", which effectively means if you have a debate about vaccines, you must have one doctor, one celebrity, one journalist and one anti-vaxxer because only this way you can provide "objective" information 🤦♂️
@kmic I think that - apart from dumb media and frauds like Wakefield or Seralini - the primary cause is total lack of public education about issues critical for the society.
Education has been kind of delegated to schools and limited to children. I once asked Polish vaccinology experts when there was any countrywide public campaign educating about vaccines... and the answer was a blank stare, and then "maybe 80's" 🤦♂️
@kmic Nawet lepiej pasywne bezpieczeństwo oznacza właśnie, że cała załoga może zniknąć w jednym momencie a elektrownia się sama wygasi i wyłączy bez dopływu energii z zewnątrz.
No a takie awarie to się zdarzają wszędzie, tylko jak to nie jest EJ to pies z kulawą nogą się tym nie interesuje 😂

@kmic Jakaś korupcja na pewno jest nawet w UK, tylko chodzi o poziom jej uciążliwości. Np. w Rosji ona jest wszechogarniająca - na drogach, w szkole, u lekarza, w urzędzie itd - i dotkliwa - tzn. np. zamiast drogi jest gruntówka. W Białorusi byłem często ok 2005 i byłem wtedy wręcz zaszokowany tym, że drogówka nie wymuszała łapówek, co było powszechne w Rosji (teraz jest *trochę* lepiej) i zdarzało się w Polsce.

@kmic No i Białorusi można zarzucić wiele, ale akurat korupcji - w odróżnieniu od Rosji - tam generalnie nie ma, co było dla mnie pozytywnym zdziwieniem - a jeździłem tam nawet swoim autem na polskich blachach.
@kmic Korupcję i brak transparentności im zarzucają głównie Litwini bo elektrownię zbudowali ~50 km od Wilna. Ale to trochę przesada bo jak sprawdziłem to znalazłem raporty IAEA stamtąd z 2012 i 2020 roku, więc ewidentnie współpracują z inspekcją międzynarodową. Poza tym w Rosji jest chyba ze 100 reaktorów cywilnych i nie miały żadnych awarii od Czernobyla, więc ewidentnie wyciągnęli wnioski. No i PWR, VVER itd są pasywnie bezpieczne...

@kmic Takie rzeczy się dzieją non-stop w elektrowniach konwencjonalnych tylko, że nikt się tym nie jara no bo nie ma "atomu"... Tzn to jest awaria ale bez znaczenia dla bezpieczeństwa reaktora itd. Równie dobrze mógłby się zepsuć kibel w zakładowej stołówce i też będzie to "awaria w elektrowni jądrowej" 😉

@dump_stack Ну и плюс эти придурки из Бонанзы на самом деле очень очевидно манипулировали. Смотрел их выпуски - вот в этим году на полнос серёзе они взяли каких то типов которые под Торезом стоят возле гаражей и говорят (в 2020!) мол "вот он летел над облоками, мы видели украинский истребитель", ещё и пальцом показывают :)
@dump_stack Не знаю ни одного случая чтобы такие утечки с эл почты были подделками. Все Сурковы, Глазевы и другие в итоге потверждали или не отрацали что это их, просто обычно несли какой то бред про "вырвано из контекста" :)
