My favourite is 'mailserver' image: 12 email daemons stuffed into a single container with a convoluted sed scripts to generate configuration based on environmental variables, basically EMAIL=yes, SPAM=no. To restart a single daemon you obviously have to restart the whole container, and security updates are rare.
This could apply to public access communication such as forums, Instagram, Twitter, Mastodon etc. Also semi-private chat such as Discord servers.
One of great achievements of USSR was falsification of statistical data on mass scale: 1937 census indicated that population growth was slower than the Party boasted, so the scientists who managed it were imprisoned and results classified.
Today Rosstat is quietly removing data indicating that mortality over the first seven months of 2020 exceeded mortality over the whole 2020.
I don't think #Assange qualifies as journalist. He did not publish investigative or analytical articles, he merely reposted cherry picked (!) raw documents received from others, carefully coordinating it with Russian special services, sometimes reposted their disinformation, however cynical it was (MH17, Syria). How is he different from say Alex Jones?

What is your objective? If it's to avoid ISP or state censorship then use Tor.
If it's to avoid BitTorrent lawsuits, use IP blocklists and BitTorrent encryption.
Any other reason - set up your own Wireguard endpoint at a cloud provider.
Otherwise VPN is just giving away control over your traffic from one entity (ISP) to another, even less trusted (VPN operator).

Banda Bassotti from Italy support the great socialist leader Alexander #Lukashenko. Don't worry. In case you didn't know their brains melted when they started supporting DNR|LNR in Ukraine in 2016. #Belarus

AppImage runs a whole lot of system binaries when it runs, including SUID AFAIR, so it's probably even worse. I found it when I tried to confine an AppImage ImageMagick with AppArmor 😃
Same for AppImage.
