@redstarfish

Not doable in practice as of 2020. Youtube-dl and Invidious are the ways to go.

С железкой тот же геморой что со смарткартами - когда нужен, он всегда в другой комнате а потом ещё надо бегать искать переходник с USB-C на USB :)

Well, certainly Kaepernick might have risked less in absolute values, but it required just as much courage and self-confidence in the reality that surrounded him. That's certainly the attitude that should be praised and I'm definitely adding him to my personal list :)

I love that the council are using the photo on the left to talk about their new cycling infra, but let's zoom out a bit shall we 😂

I think memory of these people should be highlighted more, because they actually stood for the values rather than join the vicious tribal instincts. It takes much more courage to do this than anything else, especially in these times and places.

And this, to be honest, is the only way how progress works among humans. If it wasn't for people like this, we'd be still probably eating leaves and killing anyone who smells differently with sticks :)

@zleap@social.isurf.ca @aral

Absolutely there were. There's a little known history of a Polish-Jewish pianist Władysław Szpilman en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C5%82a who survived the whole WW2 occupation in Warsaw thanks to his Jewish, then Polish friends, and then he was rescued by a Wehrmacht officer Wilm Hosenfeld. There's a good movie about that story "The Pianist" (2002). There were also August Landmesser and Gustav Wegert, famous for defying the nazi salute photo en.wikipedia.org/wiki/August_L

@strypey 100% right. FB and other centralized media are ephemeral fluctuations, just like AOL was 20 years ago.

#ShowerThoughts the (re-)decentralized net is in a similar place to where the internet itself once was. Before TCP/IP emerged as the universally accepted standard, there were a bunch of competing internets, using different protocol sets. A bit like XMPP, Diaspora, Zot, Matrix, ActivityPub, SSB, IPFS, SOLID etc. We don't yet know if the universal glue will be one of these, or something else entirely. It's worth keeping an open mind and learning about the pros and cons of all of them.

@aral

This is 100% tribalist approach. You basically assume every single Palestinian or black person is morally superior to every Jew or white simply because is particular places there's overrepresentation of one group among opressed. This is precisely the approach that leads to partisanship and fuels conflicts forever, because we focus on person's identity rather than their actions.

@freemo

Ok but then I'm missing the point - why is he enacting law that as he explained will tackle exactly the problem of marking false information as false?

@freemo

Note there's no "it's a lie" label involved. It literally says "you can read more here" under the original content.

TBH I would love to see his posts taken to a court because then we would have them dissected to bits with the bullshit properly exposed from expert and legal point of view.

@freemo

> censoring outspoken members

Marking utter bullshit with "you can read more reliable info on this subject here" badge is not censorship by any known definition of
