@feld

I don't really care about the RFC being outdated because it's been working in all operating systems 10 years ago, it's working today. It's just there and it works.

Now if your problem is not sticking to a 80's version of a protocol you should probably start freaking out about FACK, SACT, DACK, ECN and dozens of other extensions that have been added to TCP since its conception.

@feld

You may not like IPv6 but please don't spread stories about about "permanent identifiers" because they are false.

@feld

Now with IPv4 NAT is the only reason why such crappy and overcomplicated protocols for NAT piercing as STUN or UPnP even exist. So you not only need Jitsi for a video call, you also need a 24/7 STUN operator - like Google. And if you look at the ecosystem of P2P protocols they're spending enormous amount of resources solving this one problem of NAT piercing. Any many of them get this wrong, because it's non trivial.

@feld

Permanent? I've got native IPv6. Today my IP is:

2a02:390:79ef:0:818d:3396:b77f:a4b5

yesterday it was:

2a02:390:79ef:0:37d:5e95:3b6d:eaa8

Thanks to tools.ietf.org/html/rfc4941

@freemo

That's also a feature of living in a multi-flat house too but whether it's advantage or disadvantage largely depends on your neighbors. In Poland I was surrounded by heat freaks and with a cracking frost outside I had to open windows to avoid death from overheating πŸ˜‚

@freemo

After KrakΓ³w and UK I'm kind of allergic to all historic buildings πŸ˜‚ Next thing I'll be building will be a passive house πŸ˜†

@freemo

In the UK if you're rich you can tear down the house except for the exterior and practically build a second, modern house inside the shell. Obviously, this only makes sense in case of very large houses.

@freemo

I was once living in this hotel in Rotterdam and that was really something that stays in memory - read reviews, even the most horrible are 100% true πŸ˜‚ tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review

@freemo

Precisely, most of the houses in UK have completely ridiculous energy efficiency standards and are essentially heating up the air above.

@freemo

As someone who lived for 35 years in a historic town of KrakΓ³w and now lives in UK I can testify this also has a reverse side: it's really hard to live in a museum :) The truth is old houses are damp, cold and it's difficult to lay modern infrastructure like water & sewage pipes, electric cables etc. Same in the UK, there's a whole cult of Edwardian houses event though they provide luxury comparable with a camping tent...

"Optical radiation" WTF this guy should definitely drink less. The connectors he's showing are used in every PC. The whole thing is total scam and based on people's technical ignorance.

@freemo

I once went to Elista, the capital of Kalmykia in Russia, only to try kumys. Unfortunately, it's only seasonal - they make it in May or so.

However, if someone doesn't like kumys there's a farm in Netherlands that makes absolutely awesome liquor from horse milk :)
