Cryptocurrencies have been traditionally marketed as "anonymous" and "privacy-friendly" but I consider this to be a huge bullshit as these terms are largely incompatible with the very concept of public ledger aka blockchain.

What I do like about DAI is that the payment is very easy (unlike SWIFT), you don't need any personal data for the payment itself (unlike PayPal, debit card, SWIFT) and when I send $10 the seller gets $10 (unlike ETH/BTC).

Now that's worth sharing:

Very much looking forward to this Wednesday, when we'll host the second Open Tech Will Save Us event! @Gargron - creator of Mastodon! - will join us for a Q&A about scaling Mastodon.social, while @mhoye from Mozilla will present about "Verbs in the fediverse". Plus, more to be announced! matrix.org/open-tech-meetup/

For classic cryptocurriencies like ETH and BTC the problem is that the exchange rate is jumping up and down all the time so it would be like someone paying with company shares - today 1 share is worth $100, tomorrow $75, and after tomorrow $110. This volatility was making cryptocurrencies rather useless for service or goods payments. DAI solves this problem - its exchange rate is roughly $1 all the time.

@PINE64 are Pine laptops vulnerable to thunderspy.io/ at all? The specification doesn't mention Thunderbold so just checking...

@Cyannin

They do deserve but how she's talking about it doesn't help the cause to be honest. Essentially: you white boys suck and would die there, give me money, I'll write a better story.

Thunderspy attack targets devices with a Thunderbolt port. If your computer has such a port, an attacker who gets brief physical access to it can read and copy all your data, even if your drive is encrypted and your computer is locked or set to sleep.

@guenther

Yeah, I saw its code review last week - it's terrible! Most people in data science do this type of things in R, Matlab/Octave or Python. Usage of C++ indicates a very old code and nobody with actual programming experience on the team...

If you're sleepless, this has been just announced by UK prime minister as official alert scoring system:

* R is a floating number <6
* number of infections an integer from 0 to 80'000'000
* COVID alert level is an integer 1-5

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

By the way, if you were inspired by the "real Lord of Flies" story from The Guardian, I have just found the small print on the bottom of the article that says the story is a part of a book "Humankind" by Ruther Bergman that is going to be published soon:

rutgerbregman.com/books/

For some reason The Guardian didn't really make that very visible...

Извините, но уже этот заголовок показывает что это жуткое пиар наебательство.

A fascinating story a boy called Onfim living in 13th century Novgorod and doing his homework on birch bark which survived to our times in clay ground.

@dump_stack

I suspect they're implying more of a CIA involvement. I'll spare you that one, but next came news about some Chinese scientist assassinated in the US.

But this could be a join operation after all, nobody said GRU couldn't take part in NWO preparation.

Wake up sheeple!
