is not very good at PR and media love one-time PR stunts like that from Russia and China rather than stable, long-term operations, but the amount of support that EU provides and facilitates between member states is much larger than any third party ever offered:

@Wetrix The thing with fediverse is that it doesn't have any central machine learning authority like in FB or Twitter that gradually tune your feed to what you engage with and what you don't. Obviously at the cost of behavioural profiling and building the bubble *for you* based on rather obscure criteria.

Fediverse relies only on your explicit signals "I don't want this" so you just need to use the Mute button less reluctantly.

@thor Yeah this was obvious from the "more chicks" description 😂

Depending of which "crypto" you're speaking - actual cryptographic conferences are nerdy even by IT standards (with a few notable exceptions). Cryptocurrency is more about PR and hype so it's definitely attracting a more diverse audience :)

I think the Fediverse should focus now on scalability issues. The number of connections between instances, users and the size of media replicated are of concern of instance administrators.

If you're user you really want to donate to the Ruma project whose objective is to create a high performance Matrix client library and homeserver.

Both are prerequisites to creating lightweight desktop client to replace Riot which is an Electron-based memory hog with Chrome embedded.

🍀 Financial support for such projects is critical - otherwise they can't compete with "free" products for which you pay with your data.
