@xj9 The thing is that none of the plants or animals we eat today are "natural". All of them have beet genetically modified by thousands of years of selection from random or more recently forced mutations. Same applies to dogs, horses etc.
Nobody has really questioned genetically modified tomatoes, apples, berries etc that are larger and sweeter than the wild ones which are usually tiny, bitter or sour.
@ScottMortimer @saper Oh nothing special, Knot Resolver with DoT on one of my servers.
@xj9 It's not really about spirits, but about a selective definition of "natural"
@ScottMortimer @saper I did already and Nextdns is definitely one of the best and most comprehensive out there. Now I just use my own DoT resolver on the Internet.
@ScottMortimer @saper The thing is that if any was able to choose here, they've chosen already - DoH/DoT aren't new after all. The battle now is about the *default* settings...
@dump_stack I was also very enthusiastic about Librem initially but I think they're just trying to replicate Apple's business model, so $$$ branding done cheap
@dump_stack If people can put CVEs into their CV, it's enough motivation to produce them in volumes. I've seen that a lot :)
@dump_stack The point of xkcd is that actual vulns are mixed with trivial stuff made up by CVE collectors ;)
@dump_stack In LTS you don't usually get much new features, but you still get plenty of bugfixes. Memory leaks or outdated GeoIP databases are *not* security fixes but do screw up systems significantly (just from my own recent experience).
@dump_stack I just leave it here ;) Plus the whole devops concept of "we only apply security patches" is silly on its own.

"Facebook acknowledged these pages are engaging in deceptive behavior but will continue to allow them to operate" https://popular.info/p/facebook-allows-prominent-right-wing
Is the widely advertised "ever growing number of software vulnerabilities" caused mostly by researchers reporting literally *any* trivial bugs just to get a CVE? The number of Lows seems to suggest so... Chart credits to https://vulners.com/stats

"Reymont did not love #capitalism. However, while Poland’s communist regime touted The Promised Land, it simultaneously banned Reymont’s last novel: the anti-Bolshevik Bunt (“The Revolt”), serialised in Tygodnik Ilustrowany in 1922 and published in novel form two years later. The novel was not a major success in Poland, in part because Warsaw’s liberal literary critics, themselves often flirting with #marxism, considered his dystopian work to be reactionary."

"In The Worker, Dalton Trumbo openly bragged that the following works had not reached the screen: Arthur Koestler's Darkness at Noon and The Yogi and the Commissar; Victor Kravchenko's I Chose Freedom; and Bernard Clare by James T. Farrell, also author of Studs Lonigan and vilified by party enforcer Mike Gold as "a vicious, voluble Trotskyite." https://web.archive.org/web/20080312064605/http://reason.com/news/show/27732.html
