@Vortax as I explained to other folks on Twitter: YouTube owns us nothing. It's their platform for content monetization and their rules. We're free to use anything else, such as

Hey @write_as on your Subscribe page could you use Captcha other than Google's Recaptcha? What's the point of federation if we're still feeding all our personal details to Google...

@kot @kravietz @jj yep mullvad FTW
I use to send envelopes with cash to their address. Truly anonymous payments 😁 they've never not activated my profile. Also their reputation is great and they take lengths to defend their own opsec and computer integrity. I like them a lot.

@kravietz @jj @kot Likewise. I've never used NordVPN, either. Since a user would likely give their app a lot of privileges and access to interfaces, I can see how they could try that. That's why I keep an always-visible data I/O monitor on my task bar or status bar. If it's active for no good reason, I want to know why. And thanks for the heads up about Nord and Proton. Mullvad FTW, I guess.

@jj @kot I've never used NordVPN but if they have a client installed on your computer they can essentially inject any traffic originating from your IP

@wire @villain @rf да, это действительно офигенный разговор :)

@MastodonProject I appreciate unwillingness to be associated with Gab sickos but Mastodon on its own should be content neutral. I don't mind server ops blocking Gab (I'd actually encourage this) but hardcoding this ban in client apps is an utter nonsense.

@MastodonProject client (!) software (Tusky, Toot) blocking hardcoded (!) domains of "nazi" servers (like Gab) is a shoot in the foot. And trying to get unblocked clones @ZhiyuanLin from Google Play with "GPL violation" complaints is just a foul play.

The #Tusky people seems to be unhappy about #TuskyUncensored to be a GPL-compliant software so they can not report it for GPL violation.

And they are reporting #Mastodon client that works with #newgab for Google Play policy violation.

I am just a Chinese guy living in Japan, I have not been to the fucking America yet. Being born in China, I know the importance of absolute free speech is so much more important than difference between left and right.

All Japanese Mastodon clients are not blocking #Gab, including Subway Tooter by Mr.Tateisu, a very well made client with support for push notification with FCM, which #Tusky refuse to implement.
play.google.com/store/apps/det

Also play.google.com/store/apps/det made by Mixi K.K. in Japan.

You guys should really try to take down those #WhiteSupremacist #Nazi apps made by Japanese right?

Thank those people in the #Tusky Team (mostly white) trying to force us, the coloured developers in Asia to comply with their view of #AmericanPolitics. Such an excellent way to combat #AmericanExceptionalism and #WhiteSupremacism .

@vvd Телеграм - да, но с отметкой "заблокирован" :)

Installed Ubuntu on my younger brother's laptop and showed him some basics on how to use terminal. One more point for FOSS one less for Windows.

@kot their business model is apparently not to peek into your traffic, but run their traffic through your VPN client

@nikolal The court file leaves do doubts about NordVPN really (not sure about ProtonVPN)

@nikolal This one is a killer - it's a court document that directly speaks of "Tesonet's NordVPN network" and using clients' computers for data mining cdn-resprivacy.pressidium.com/
