Absolutely you did. There's a whole book from ~1900 now widely circulated in anti-vaxx circles (even today) where the author argued against mandatory smallpox vaccinations. I can't find it now, but to be honest his arguments - even though mostly proven wrong with time - were dozens of times more sophisticated than today's anti-vaxxers.
That's the whole problem - I've just been frantically digging through my bookmarks but can't find it. Probably filed it under some different tag, but I'll find it eventually.
