@kravietz Unfortunately some of these gangs are exporting personal data and threatening to publish or sell it these days.

@InsertUser So my advice for all customers who actually do process personal data is "don't" unless they actually have to, and if they do then store it for not a day more than they have to.

@kravietz @InsertUser Ethical companies with the capacity to manage data this way are unfortunately few. Companies will be making a trade off decision: Let them leak the personal data and deal with consequences or pay the ransom. I doubt the companies will be held accountable for the breaches. We should expect massive leaks of personal data to come.

@krock @kravietz For companies that do R&D there's also an impact from your competitors having all the information you haven't been able to monetize yet.
