YouTube now running adverts on all videos, they say in an email I just got from them.
@celesteh Just read that email too this is terrible! Will have to encourage more people to watch on PeerTube who wants to be watching a one hour film and adverts keep interrupting?!?

Pre-empting what will inevitably happen when/if PeerTube gains serious audience: who's going to fund their development and traffic?
PeerTube has reasonable business plan that doesn't involve surveillance nor ads, but it's guaranteed to fail if few people donate.
@kravietz @celesteh Yep thats a good point. And generally a question about the viability of a donation-based/free price economy. I would like to think it could work! (at least until we get rid of money altogether ^_^) But its already a big step away from the majority advertising funded model of the present...
