Each generation comes up with a novel technique for money laundering, which is then categorically condemned as immoral by those who already laundered their fortunes through physical art works and restaurants 🤫

@kravietz
As far as I understand, what's going on right now is more price manipulation than money laundering.

Not that either of these things isn't already well entrenched in the traditional fine art market. Auction where you can legally bid anonymously w/ cash? Come. The. Fuck. On.

But as you say, old criminals condemn new criminals in their newspapers, and the useful idiots gobble up the meme and repeat it on the TL. Sad part is that good people get framed in all of this as well.

@kravietz, I'm not a fan of #NFT, but I disagree with you. It's definitely not money laundering. Even through #Bitcoin and other #crypto, there is not as much money laundering as with traditional banks.

The value of water, food, a computer or a mechanical keyboard is subjective.

Most of what is sold now on OpenSea.io (at those prices) is really nonsense (for me), but, if there is a buyer, then I'm happy for the artist who will earn a couple of #ETH.

@TheFuzzStone

You just had a whole series of angry posts here on Mastodon from artists whose work has been posted on NFT websites without their permission.

@kravietz, There are bastards everywhere. On the other hand, it's not a problem to ask the service to remove the work and provide proof that you own it.
