@kravietz I especially like "millions are eating halal food without knowing it". Is that supposed to scare people? :-) I mean, if millions are already doing it, how bad could it be really?
If they write about it, then their target audience apparently is somewhat agitated by that. That's the logic of mass media.
You could replace "halal" with "kosher" or "GMO" or "irradiated" and the target audience would be just as triggered even though none of these makes any difference π€·
@kravietz I remember someone launched a scare campaign on FB about "what do you think about the government teaching our kids Arabic numbers in school", and it totally worked as intended. Which scared *me* a lot.

Just to be sure - there are different media in the UK. BBC holds pretty good impartiality standards but Society of Editors includes people from UK tabloids which are the worst scum, comparable probably only with Russia Today. Except what RT is being (deservedly) criticised for, is forgiven to the tabloids "because they just do it for profit".
