Original in German - that "make an ass of myself" isn't a very precise translation, probably "...I'm ridiculing myself" or something like that would be better:

"Es ist möglich, daß ich mich blamiere. Indes ist dann immer mit einiger Dialektik zu helfen. Ich habe natürlich meine Aufstellungen so gehalten, daß ich im umgekehrten Fall auch Recht habe."

It comes close enough. Certainly the meaning of "sich blamieren" and "making an ass out of oneself", is very similar.
Maybe "embarrass myself" would be closer...
