This article highlights all fundamental issues with #whatsapp business model but misses one particular issue, which actually made me remove WhatsApp from my primary phone: security exploits used for surveillance, as it was the case in 2019. The app is a closed-source binary blob that is analysed mostly by highly motivated and well-funded researchers, who sell exploits on zero-day market, leaving users exposed.
