Wow just discovered that it's #zfs scrub on my 3 HDD array that heats my CPU to 85Β°C which results in a hard thermal shutdown from BIOS (previously unexplained).
The solution: lm-sensors & zpool scrub in an ugly script which periodically checks temp, pauses scrub before it hits 85 and restarts after a few mins wait to cool down.
If my son asks me "what you do as an infosec engineer" what do I say? π€¦ββοΈ π
@kravietz You might also want to upgrade your CPU fan and case fans. I have found Noctua fans to be the cream of the crop.
You pay for quality but damn are they whisper quiet and efficient. Even my Pi cluster has two of them.
Oh thanks! My home server is HP MicroServer so not much space inside but I certainly can apply this recommendation to my NanoPi & SOPine boxes which also tend to overheat!
