The US seems to be generally shying from electronic voting.

Vote-by-mail is paper-based.

Mail-in voting is particularly secure because the ballot has the person's name on it. So if there is a dispute then forensic analysts can do random spot checks making cheating pretty much impossible.

Also mail-in voting has another super advantage: It makes the old "only put one voting booth for the whole city" voter suppression technique all but useless.

It doesn't prevent one specific abuse though: vote sale and vote coercion, because in mail-in vote it's easy for third parties to see your voting card before it's sent.
