@dump_stack And that last part is an ultimate justification for them - even if it was a totalitarian hell, they don't really care because "counterweight to USA". This attitude is perfectly seen today in some leftists denial or justification of North Korean abuse against their own citizens, only because they're challenging USA.

That's pretty good test on whether someone is actually following the ideals of the left, or just tribal thinking of the anti-US camp...
