@dump_stack I think this is more complicated picture, because many "on the left" have a complex relationship with the former USSR regions. The rational part of their mind admits it was an authoritarian, oppressive empire. The romantic part still keeps the memories of "progressive revolution" (which was part real, part propaganda). The utilitarian part however realizes it was the only super-power to counterweight USA, which seems to be their ultimate goal.
