With the elite here that's all in one corner we aren't a real democracy neither. Not downplaying countries like turkey, Hungary etc, but I don't think much countries have real freedom in politic fields. So to speak of 'last' is maybe not the right word :)

It's a spectrum, and on this spectrum Hungary or Poland are still far far away from Belarus and Russia. Being in EU certainly prevents some authoritarian tricks, like taking control over legislative or media.

You are right, I shouldn't have compared in a way that makes things more binary. It's a scale, and I should've respected that more, in comparison we don't have it as bad here
