When calling to remove statues of all people with racist episodes in their biographies just keep in mind that Margaret Sanger was an enthusiastic supporter of eugenics, ran a "Negro Project" & wrote about "sinister forces of the hordes of irresponsibility and imbecility"...
i argue just having appalling views isn't grounds for your statue being pulled down. Committing atrocities, or being an accessory to this, however, should mean your effigy is cast down at the earliest opportunity.
That's kind of my point in the light of calls to remove Churchill or Feynman (yes...). I have no doubts about Colston or Leopold II though.
Churchill was a monster, but Feynman... Well, he was a flawed human being, but he achieved a great deal, and wasn't a fucking scumbag. He is also very much worth remembering.
Leopold II, meanwhile, is a classic case of people overlooking the bleeding obvious until it finally crashes through their living room windows.
Churchill is a good example because in the UK he's perceived as a god who "won the war", while in Poland for example he's perceived both as a god and also someone who screwed Poles who fought for Great Britain and then screwed them second time in Yalta. Cossacks deported to USSR by his orders also might tend to differ on his assessment :)

We all really need to dump Churchill, like voters did in 1945. What's overlooked is how many serving soldiers and workers in the UK absolutely despised the man before, during and after WW2.
