U2F offers the "high security" functionality you use "pass" for. Initially I was like "OMG I'm now going to switch all my authentication to U2F" but after a year I'm gradually moving to only use it for high-security websites. Simply because having to stick a physical device into computer is quite an usability obstacle to do it on every silly shopping session.
