Capitalism is an absolutely ingenious system when you think about it. Constant chaos and crisis with periods of prosperity in between, a constant sense of profound change while the fundamental power dynamics remain in place. If you tried to design a system as resilient to fundamental change as capitalism I don't think you could do it.

@lazarski Chaos is not feature of capitalism per se, but of humans, and of any dynamic system in general. Any non-capitalist systems built by people out there were absolutely no less chaotic.

@kravietz That's partly my point, capitalism is a dynamic system that adapts in response to crises.

@lazarski Precisely so - its pragmatism is both cause for cynicism and rent-seeking, but also lack of diehard ideological inflexibility, as it was with Marxism.

In practical aspect it's quite shocking to look at say UK, Russia, UK and Sweden and realise they are all technically capitalist countries, yet they're so different.
