re: WWDC Spam

@0x00 features don't exist until apple blesses them with a conference 😤

WWDC Spam

the odds of being prerecorded are probably like... 100% right?

WWDC Spam

Wow an app drawer and widgets. This is truly a revolutionary update, I'm so excited for iOS 14. Can't believe nobody has thought of this before.

@c1t1z3n0n3 honestly it's a bit creepy to watch, how they've laid it out so it looks like they're talking directly at you. Uncomfortable lmao

@Johnny_of_the_swamp > Last I checked Richard Spencer is still on Twitter.

That is a con for Twitter, which is almost as bad, sure, not a pro for Gab. Twitter is already a cesspool, imagine what a platform of people that had to be 'booted off' it is going to look like lol

@Johnny_of_the_swamp I think the point is that what should be a non-political software project aligning itself with a pro-hate-speech platform is not ideal.

@Johnny_of_the_swamp en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gab_(soc "Co-founder and CEO Andrew Torba has cited 'the entirely left-leaning Big Social monopoly' and an alleged bias against conservative articles by Facebook as his reasons for creating the site." lol

@freddyym some admins would rather have their own closed federation of servers rather than interact with everyone else on mastodon. It’s their loss IMO, because instances like lgbt.io are basically just re-creating Gab lol, but it’s also their prerogative. I’m assuming nobody here knows anyone on lgbt.io, so it doesn’t really matter to me. @x

@Sawmain they seem to block a million servers. Not sure what I’m supposed to do if admins don’t contact me, besides reminding people to sign up for a good instance when they join Mastodon 🤷‍♂️

@crunklord420 that’s... probably true tbh.

Number of users doesn’t matter, but the number of rooms and their complexity does. That’s the main thing, with a ton of users we’re in a ton of rooms at once, which kills Synapse.

@crunklord420 with what hardware/how many users? I run into 100% CPU util on a Ryzen 9 3900, which appears to be mainly because Synapse is python and single-threaded :( Although I haven’t looked into Synapse workers yet.

Announcement time:

We now have our own Matrix homeserver, and it is running on #RockPro64 hardware just like the rest of our online infrastructure! All our discussion/support channels have been moved to it as their main address.

Did I also mention it's open for user registration? 😊

@PINE64 good luck with the open registrations for a server running on

Just shows what Google can do with an endless amount of user generated data.

The creepier aspect of this is that a law-enforcement-grade recognition software is being compared to a free photos service being used by millions of Google customers in the first place 😧

Want a demo of how powerful surveillance systems used by police force are? Here’s practically Google Photos object/face detection applied to hours of video surveillance.

This can sort by things like Red Pickup Trucks, or women with backpacks.
