@mewmew Xeon E3-1245 V2 (4c 8t), 32 GB RAM, 2x480GB SSD. But we host a lot of stuff on this server, not just Mastodon.
The new server will probably have the same specs. We're just running out of storage space currently. Matrix is the other big resource hog, so one instance had to go. And god forbid I have to migrate our Matrix install again lmao
@Phoenix_alx huh. Well, not anymore 👍
@CyberSocialist so far it seems like a social network, kind of a mix of Facebook and Medium.com, but more privacy-focused, and it pays you for interacting & publishing content. Idk, you can see my page: https://www.minds.com/jonaharagon/ seems like an interesting idea as far as monetization goes.

well I made an account because it seems like an interesting concept (and also to shill my blog posts) so if anyone also has one feel free to subscribe 😜
@dump_stack oh that’s a shame. Care to elaborate?
@dump_stack yes you missed something lol
@dump_stack @danarel @blacklight447 where do we claim everybody should be using a MacBook? You're creating issues that don't exist.
@kravietz always was.
@ajroach42 you could just print business cards with a link/QR code to a site they could stream from on their phones.

meta, bad moderation, mastodon.art
@mewmew lol yeah, my instance has been blocked a fair number of times by admins (of occasionally fairly large instances) that have never reached out or reported content beforehand. Usually because of one or two users. Per-user suspension exists 🙄
This is why everyone should host Mastodon themselves. It isn’t the job of instance admins with large userbases to (usually preemptively) block instances they merely don’t like, but here we are. C’est la vie.

Everyone please, please sign the save .ORG petition.
SaveDotOrg.org
.ORG seems to be the worst tld to sell. The people who want to use it are orgs that probably need it. ICANN has not given good reasons for why they are selling except for "we trust them" and pretty much just "we want the money."

There's a petition to Save the .org top level domain. Apparently, ICANN could still stop it from being sold.
https://savedotorg.org
I know, petitions rarely work, but I also know that _sometimes_ they do.
Please consider signing if you _run_ anything there, or if you _use_ or _care about_ anything that's on a .org domain. Also, boosting this to others who follow you, would be very much appreciated.

Don't let powerful people abuse copyright and trademark law to censor NGOs. EFF is proud to stand with @RSI, @creativecommons, and @publicknowledge to defend .ORG. https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2019/11/nonprofit-community-stands-together-protect-org
#PrivacyTools Administrator, #OpenNIC Operator, macOS and Linux user, maybe some other stuff too?
