What kind of federated services would people like to see privacytools.io host? Plume (https://joinplu.me/)? PeerTube (https://joinpeertube.org/en/)? Nextcloud (not sure how much storage we would be able to provide though)?

@wingy You can register at https://riot.privacytools.io/#/register -- in fact it's probably a better place to register than the overloaded matrix.org servers!

Or you could choose an entirely different server from a list like this one: https://www.hello-matrix.net/public_servers.php?show_from=Switzerland+%28Hosttech%29&sortby=Avg%20Response and you'd still be able to join our channel #general:privacytools.io 😄

@nigelisok yep! this is pretty much like Twitter except it's controlled by the users instead of these mega-corporations 😄

You obviously know how to post. The star is for "liking" other posts, and the boost icon (the arrows) are for re-posting something on your own feed.

There's "Home", which is people you follow, "Local timeline" which is all the people on this server you joined, and "Federated timeline" which is a bunch of people from a bunch of different servers that run this same software!

@nigelisok have you used Twitter before? It's fairly similar, a social media platform :)
